Due to the considerable growth Roundhouse Thinking has achieved since its launch in 2014, we have appointed another Commercial Sales Executive.
Welcome, Jit - who has joined the team with over six years’ experience in Learning and Development, working within a blue-chip organisation. Jit explained ‘I am passionate about L&D and look forward to engaging with new and existing clients and associates. I look forward to helping clients understand how investing in the right training can improve an organisation’.
‘I am also really keen to bring forward new ideas to make learning more fun and engaging and on the go’, he adds.

Following the introduction of the Apprenticeship Levy in April 2017, Roundhouse Thinking is further developing commercial training solutions for Levy paying customers to support the wider workforce.
This includes ILM Level 3 & 5 management apprenticeships to help aspiring managers develop key skills they need to succeed in their careers.

PRINCE2 2017 (PRojects IN Controlled Environments)
PRINCE2 Foundation and Practitioner course aims to educate participants on how to fully apply the PRINCE2 principles to the running and management of projects. During the 5 days, delegates will progress from beginner all the way through to a registered PRINCE2 Practitioner, through expert tuition and coaching.
As an internationally recognised award, PRINCE2 develops your project management theory and ability to manage a project of any scale with success. The practical application of guidance, real-life examples and tips provide you with the confidence to adapt the PRINCE2 method to your own organisation and projects.
ILM Level 3 & 5
ILM (Institute of Leadership and Management) qualifications are internationally recognised and cater to all levels of management, offering a clear route to career progression.
Ideal for those with management responsibilities but no formal training, the ILM Level 3 qualification develops the skills and knowledge to lead, organise and motivate teams.
The Level 5 qualification is designed for project managers, department heads and other middle managers, as it focuses on delivering technical knowledge, strategic insight, and practical expertise.
Both qualifications are founded on work-based learning, with assessments based on projects that relate to the employer, and ensure learning is relevant and applied.
HR Investigation & Interview Skills
Our two-day course aims to build the skills and knowledge of how to initiate and develop an investigation, within HR teams. Delivered by retired Senior Investigator Paul Callum, learn how to obtain the best information through a structured approach to interviewing people under investigation and a range other HR functions.
From 13th January 2017, Roundhouse Thinking’s training will no longer take place at The Johnson Building, Locomotive Way, Derby, Derbyshire, DE24 8ZS.
Instead, all management, compliance and IT training will take place at the Broomfield Hall estate, The Old Hall, Morley, Ilkeston, DE7 6DN.
The relocation comes as a result of Roundhouse Thinking’s phenomenal growth over the past two years, which has seen us deliver training to over 600 organisations.
Farming has been a major feature of the Broomfield Hall estate since the early-20th century, with the creation first of the Derby Farm Institute and then later the renowned agricultural college, founded in 1947.
The Broomfield Hall estate is the perfect venue for training, boasting ample parking, large training rooms and a spacious area to enjoy lunch.
There are a whole host of commercial businesses on Broomfield Hall estate, including a Dog Grooming service, providing a professional service, that strives towards providing learners with the skills required to go out into the grooming industry.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the equestrian centre has experienced considerable growth, now offering full-time part-time horse care and core management, as well as holding competitions and elite training from industry professionals.
Home to the Broomfield campus is also Little Explorers Forest School, a unique 54-place nursery, who have recently been awarded an ‘Outstanding’ accreditation from Ofsted.
Getting to Broomfield is easy - It’s just a ten minute drive from Derby’s City Centre, or a 15 minute bus journey on the H1 or Y1 service. Both buses to Derby City Centre/Broomfield run every 15 minutes throughout the day on Monday to Saturday and every 30 minutes on Sundays.

When we think of New Year, often one word springs to mind... resolutions. Whether you’re a fan or not, New Year is a great time to reflect on your personal goals and achievements and plan your success for the future.
Self-improvement or at least the desire to, is something we often experience as we approach New Year. However, for all the good intentions we have, only a tiny proportion of people achieve their New Year’s resolution.
Goal setting is incredibly important, however we usually aren’t good at this, especially around New Year. Some people are often overwhelmed with the thought of making New Year’s resolutions as the goals set aren’t achievable.
It’s incredibly easy to feel overwhelmed so if you don’t know where to start, it may be worth asking yourself a question, ‘What do I want to achieve in these next 12 months?’ Have a go at writing 5 goals, however big or small that you want to achieve and then prioritise them.
Short and simple.
We’re all guilty of making extreme New Year’s resolutions that often are knowingly impossible to achieve, therefore keeping your resolutions short and simple is easier and more manageable. They become attainable and you don’t end up failing at the first hurdle.
Setting your resolutions is all well and good but it’s what happens next that counts. For example, if your resolution is to develop your leadership and management skills, how are you going to get to this point? You need a short plan to outline how you are going to achieve your ambitions. Rather than being vague, make sure you are specific as this will motivate you further.
Take your time.
Often the confines of a nine hour working day, paired with commitments outside of work can often result in us having too much to do and too little time. To tackle this, take 15 minutes of each day to plan. The simplest way to do this would be to write a list. Managing your time effectively plays a key role in the working environment. With important tasks, it’s vital to steer away from distractions, therefore close all irrelevant browser windows, put your phone away and find a quiet, comfortable place to work.
Start as you mean to go on.
Once you have completed a task, remember to tick this off your list. Getting into the routine of achieving everyday will develop a great sense of accomplishment and positivity. Remember, recognising that your time is extremely important increases your personal productivity to achieve a greater work-life balance. Applying this can eliminate time being wasted and improve your overall performance in and out of work.
